The General is a comedy from 1926 directed by Clyde Bruckman and Buster Keaton, starring Buster Keaton and Marion Mack. Silent with English intertitles.
When the Civil War breaks out, Johnnie (Buster Keaton) hurries to be first in line to enlist in the Confederate Army, but is rejected because he is too valuable in his present job as a railroad engineer. Unfortunately, Johnnie’s fiancee thinks that he does not want to enlist and informs him that she will not speak to him again until he is in uniform. But when Johnnie’s train, The General, is stolen, he has the chance to prove he is not a coward.
Released as eight 60m/200ft parts, which have been combined on four 120m/400ft reels.
