Super 8mm | 1 x 120m/400ft | B&W | Silent
Print condition: VG- | Original box
In the late 1960s, British movie star Diana Rigg, of Avengers fame, made a few lowbudget shorts which were exclusively distributed on 8mm. It will probably remain a mystery forever why a successfull star at the top of her career agreed to take part in these lowbudget ventures, but of course: so much the better for us collectors.
The ultra-short episodes in the Minikillers series are the best known of these releases. A title that only rarely pops up is The Diadem, a short crime film produced in Germany. Like Minikillers, it exists in both silent and sound versions. The sound version has music and sound effects only; dialogue apparently was a bridge too far. As the story is not exactly hard to follow and the mini-skirted Rigg herself is the main item of interest, the silent version on offer here is almost as much fun.
Actual length is about 80m/270FT. As the film needs to be played at 18fps, it runs for a little under 20 minutes.
Released by Accentfilm International, Germany, as Das Diadem.
