Set of two amateur films, shot in the early 1970s by a Swedish amateur filmmaker who used Kodachrome reversal film that has kept its excellent color. This is the original footage, spliced together from 15m/50ft rolls with some additional editing.
In the Footsteps of John Paris documents a visit to Japan. Tokyo by night, streets, the bullet train arriving at the railway station, Mikimoto Pearl Island, temples, shots from trains and boats, showing both the traditional and the modern Japan. The Days of Malta is entirely shot at the isle of Malta. Street scenes, a fortress, fishermen and their fleet, the harbor, neon lights at night, the sea beating the cliffs, a boat ride. Photography is pretty good and varied. The filmmaker focuses on the sights and on locals, not on his travelling companions, though there are some glimpses of them.
