Das Meer ruft [The Sea Calls] is a German drama film from 1933, directed by Hans Hinrich and starring Heinrich George, Erika Helmke and Hans Mierendorff. It is based on the poem Terje Vigen by Henrik Ibsen. Silent with Dutch intertitles.
For an ex-library print as old as this – it’s probably from the 1940s – print condition is surprisingly good. We could detect one splice in the second reel and three in the fourth reel, and there may be one or two others. But the film has only little wear and the main title and all parts titles are still present. A rare film, which comes on metal reels in metal cans.
Dutch release, as Terje Wiggen.
